B I O G R A P H Y 

Munir recently completed 5 episodes of the Hollyoaks for Lime Pictures and Channel 4 and is currently developing his feature feature film Static with Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor and Tom Hawkins.

Over recent years he has completed directing second unit on Darrell Macqueen and Apple TV’s BAFTA-winning show Lovely Little Farm. I directed second unit on BAFTA-winning Dixi and BAFTA-nominated Apple Tree House

Munir started directing in 2010 after being awarded funding from IdeasTap for his first short drama Jung (Urdu: Battle). This short film starring Emmerdale's Bhaskar Patel premiered at Soho Rushes Short Film Festival. Since then he has completed a number of other shorts and music videos.

In his recent short films, he has explored the horror/thriller genres; Harvest, a short horror/thriller about body snatching premiered at the East End Film Festival and was screened at the Oscar qualifying Nashville Film Festival in 2018; and recently the horror/comedy, A Pizza Short, an ensemble piece set in a shared house during a city-wide storms and power-cuts.

Alongside directing, he has gained significant production experience working in production and development for a number of notable production companies -  these include Kindle Entertainment, Caryn Mandabach and Revolver Entertainment. In 2010 he was selected for the Skillset funded, DiVA Fellowship and was placed as a production and development assistant with Free Range Films (Roger Michell/Kevin Loader),  AL Films (Vicky Liquorice/Joanna Anderson) and Warp Films. 

He has worked as a script/cultural consultant from shows like Doctor Who (BBC) and Next of Kin (ITV) and is an experienced editor, cutting trailers and promo’s for shows like Poldark, Endeavour, Victoria, City and the City, Vanity Fair and Naughts and Crosses

Munir was appointed to creative charity IdeasTap board of trustees in 2010 a position he held until the Charity closed curtains in 2015.
